Traumatic events early in Maggie Troyer's life forever changed the path she would walk. The unexpected death
of her father caused her world to fall apart. In the pain and confusion caused by her father's sudden death, she determined
to prove that she didn't need him.
The decision caused her to become involved in a lifestyle of drugs, abuse and danger.
She became a wife and mother by age 16. At 19 she was in prison charged with first degree murder and several years later,
she was married to a member of an outlaw motorcycle gang.
In April of 1999, Maggie was diagnosed with lung cancer in
its final stage. Tumors had spread to her brain and doctors were giving her only a short time of up to 15 months to live with
successful treatment. Through God's mercy Maggie has survived the cancer and its treatment only to realize that she was facing
a high dose of the Hepatitis C virus in her blood, the result of dirty needles shooting speed when she was a teenager.
Today,
Maggie has become a cancer survivor, is virus free, and continues to amaze her doctors for the incredible medical odds that
she has faced. Maggie is quick to give all the glory to God, who is her strength and refuge.
